The Story Behind the Killing of United Healthcare’s CEO
Unmasking our Health Insurance
It’s NOT Your Health “Insurance”
A great quote to describe the makings of a successful scam is something “elegantly simple and where one’s mind will not go.” – – – Such is the case for what we have been led to believe is our very own health insurance. The companies that sell it conditioning us to accept it as “elegantly simple” insurance, while ensuring “where one’s mind will not go” to ever question whether it meets the legal definition of insurance.
Yes, there are the perfunctory mentions of a plan to provide some level of distinction between the countless acronyms these so-called insurance companies promote, along with their mind-numbing yearly changes in co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles, plus their ever-changing percent coverage for this or that item of healthcare. All adding-up to a product we are never meant to understand, but carefully led to believe will be there when we need it, just like any other form of insurance.
However, nowhere to be found is the signed contract or policy guaranteeing the protection and coverage we are led to expect, and the legal definition for insurance requires. What we have instead is a product name that is so “elegantly simple” that our mind “will not” accept any other name for our supposed health insurance. Consequently, we are the victims of probably the greatest scam in American history. And, I challenge anyone in the American Healthcare System to prove otherwise!
However, for those reading this post, don’t hold your breath. No one from the insurance industry or the healthcare system is going to accept my challenge. Every insider I have ever met literally couldn’t get out of the room fast enough once they learned that I had read their SECRET Provider Contracts.
Fifty years ago, health insurance was close to what we think of insurance. A person simply paid a small monthly fee for all the healthcare they would need. However, Congress became concerned that too much was being spent on healthcare and challenged the healthcare insurance companies to use their power to rein in the rising cost of healthcare. The companies responded by developing ever-improving ways to deny care and coverage, and moving further and further away from what legally qualifies as insurance. Furthermore, they’ve done it in ways that no average person or patient can be expected to understand. And, all while heralding the care and coverage that will be there when we need it.
Unlike fire insurance or car insurance, our health insurance secretly maintains the right to deny care and coverage whenever they choose. It’s like a flood insurance company refusing to accept the fact that your house was swept away in a storm, and then limiting any appeal to an insurer-controlled process while being denied access to the documents that define what you are owed. Leaving far too many American families feeling betrayed and with no place to turn to for help.
Only one percent of those experiencing a denial of coverage actually find their way through the appeal process. However, insurers boast that roughly fifty percent of their denials of coverage get overturned. But, that’s just one half of one percent of all the denials of coverage. Can you imagine a baseball team batting 0.05% and bragging about it? – – – But, that’s our health insurance industry and the far bigger story behind the shooting death of United Healthcare’s CEO, Brian Thomas.
People are angry at what they see as a betrayal by the healthcare insurance industry. Worse yet,
they see first-hand the wealth being created by the betrayal. All of which ferments even greater anger that is better described as rage. Furthermore, it’s an anger and rage that is being encouraged by what the nation is hearing and seeing. “Claim denials are on the rise” (PBS News). “In-network denials are as high as 54 percent” (KFF). “Healthcare system moral bankruptcy goes viral“ (Med City News). “Healthcare bills are rife with error” (CFPB). ”Medical debt is the leading cause of family bankruptcy” (American Journal of Public Health). “Denying claims is a very effective way for health insurance companies to make money” (Boston Globe). And so many more. All driven off the “scam” that we have health “insurance.” Because it is NOT “insurance” in any sense of the word, and it doesn’t come close to meeting the expectations of anyone needing healthcare. So, can it be any surprise that people feel betrayed, lied to and angry? Can there be any question that there is a far bigger story of scam and betrayal behind the shooting death of United Healthcare’s CEO?
